Most homeowners don't think about their tankless water heater until something goes wrong. The problem is, by that point, mineral buildup has already been quietly working against you - reducing efficiency, straining the unit, and shortening its lifespan. A yearly flush is one of the simplest ways to stay ahead of all that.

Here's what happens over time: hard water deposits - especially common in the Fort Worth area - accumulate inside the heat exchanger. The unit has to work harder to heat the same amount of water. You might notice it first as slightly inconsistent temps or a unit that runs longer than it used to. Or you might not notice at all, until the repair bill shows up.

That bucket full of dark, murky flush water tells the whole story. That's the debris and mineral scale we pulled out of this unit during a routine annual service. A clean flush like this gets the buildup out before it causes real damage, and it helps the unit run the way it was designed to.

We use a descaling solution circulated through the system with a small pump - hoses connected directly to the service ports, solution runs through the heat exchanger, and everything that's been accumulating inside gets broken down and flushed out. It's a straightforward process, but it makes a real difference in how the unit performs.

Tankless water heaters are a great long-term investment - but only if they're maintained. Skipping annual flushes is one of the fastest ways to cut that lifespan short. If yours hasn't been serviced in a while, it's worth getting it looked at sooner rather than later.
